Plagiarism Evaluation
For us plagiarism evaluation is a crucial step in the academic publishing process to ensure the integrity and originality of submitted articles. Here is how this evaluation is implemented for the journal The Journal of Environmental Education Research and Sustainable Development (JEERESD):
1. Article Submission
Initial Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts via JEERESD's online submission management system.
Preliminary Check: The Editor-in-Chief or the editorial team performs an initial check to ensure the manuscript complies with the journal's guidelines regarding format, style, and content.
2. Plagiarism Check
Use of Plagiarism Detection Tools: The manuscript is submitted to a plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate, or a similar tool) to verify the originality of the content.
Analysis of the Plagiarism Report: The Editor-in-Chief or the Associate Editor examines the plagiarism report generated by the tool. The report indicates the percentage of similarity with other sources and identifies sections of the text that match existing sources.
3. Evaluation of results
Tolerance threshold: JEERESD may set a tolerance threshold for the percentage of similarity (e.g., 15% or 20%). If the manuscript exceeds this threshold, it may be returned to the author for revision or rejected.
Contextual Analysis: The Editor-in-Chief or the Associate Editor examines the identified similar sections to determine if they constitute plagiarism or if they are properly cited and referenced.
4. Actions in case of plagiarism
Return to author for revision: If sections of the manuscript are identified as plagiarized, the article may be returned to the author with instructions to revise and correct the problematic sections.
Rejection of the article: If the plagiarism is deemed severe or if the author fails to satisfactorily correct the plagiarized sections, the article may be rejected for publication.
5. Communication with Authors
Notification of Results: Authors are informed of the results of the plagiarism check and the necessary actions (revision or rejection).
Instructions for Revision: If revision is necessary, detailed instructions are provided to the authors to correct the plagiarized sections and improve the citation and referencing of sources.
6. Re-evaluation after revision
New Check: If the article is returned for revision, the revised version is submitted to a new plagiarism check to ensure that the modifications made are satisfactory.
Final Decision: The Editor-in-Chief or the Associate Editor makes a final decision on the acceptance or rejection of the revised article.
7. Publication
Preparation for publication: Once accepted, the manuscript is prepared for publication. This includes copyediting, formatting, and preparing the files for online publication.
Online publication: The article is published online on the JEERESD website and is accessible as open access.
